well, i'm an idiot.

why am i an idiot? because i decided that the little guard thing on my walking foot was too much of an inconvenience when it came to threading my consew so i took it off and then this happened.
i sewed completely through my finger. my good finger. my pointer finger on my right hand.

you SEE that? it went in my nail, and out my fingerprint.

i'm an idiot.

so the guard is going back on and i have officially learned my lesson with high shank sewing machines. so, after a two day break from sewing while the swelling went down and i gave myself ample pouting time, it's back to sewing.....
until i do this again.

  8. Oy! Those needles are THICK. This happened to my mother when she was changing a needle and didn't take her foot off the pedal and the needle went right through the middle of her thumbnail and out the other end! She had to use a pair of pliers to get the needle out. The only sewing injury I've had (so far) is when I plopped myself down on the carpeted floor to lay something out and a stray pin went right into my knee. Man, that hurt. Now I am obsessive about every pin I drop.

  9. Oh dear. My husband (who is a better sewist than I) had managed to convince me things like this didn't really happen. Now I know better, and have proof.

  10. I have sewn through my finger before. I also lost a pin once when sewing on the sofa then I found it as it somehow got stuck in my leg and was sticking straight out while blood was pooring down my leg.It really freaked out my fiancee and i'm more careful now about sewing whilst sitting on the sofa
